I always find myself stuck. Stuck for ideas,  outfits and even for what I want to eat. When you stop and think about it, life is a game of decisions. Choice after choice after choice. Most of the time we can’t process a decision. I think we can all agree that we never know what the hell to watch on Netflix the majority of the time. Constantly browsing through movies, tv shows, food documanteries…. Do I give up my next three months of freedom and start The Game Of Thrones or do I binge-watch horror movies ? We have so much choice in our lives. Even though we are extremely fortunate to have all of these options/choices – it’s okay to not know what you want sometimes.

For me one of the most annoying kind of rut that I usually get stuck in is when it comes to content. If you also create content then you know exactly what Im talking about – blog post ideas, video ideas what to post on social media. Ideas are really hard work and they don’t come easily however easy it may appear. I’ve just come back from a small vacation where I had a bit of time to sit and think about what I want to write about, what I want to start creating again and what I love to do. I think time away and a little bit of a break is essential when you’re stuck in a rut so I’ve written 5 things to do when you yourself are stuck in a rut and hopefully they will help you like they helped me.

1- Forget About Perfection

Make mistakes. Go crazy once in a while. I can’t stress enough how important this part is. You can’t always be perfect and it’s important to acknowledge that. Tomorrow is a new day, a new beginning so don’t get stuck and make every day count and try to not make the same mistake all over again but learn from what’s happened to you in the past. You never know, the time where something isn’t perfect might be the best way you’ve ever done it. I’m not saying to do the task half-heartedly but just loosen the strings a little and have fun with it.

2-Get Inspired

This is the most important step for when you’re stuck in a rut. You need to get inspired. I don’t think most people understand how important this is for their day to day living. I get inspired by anything and everything, blogs, people, photography clothing, history, architecture, spaces…  Space is the one that helps me the most, if I’m in a space that doesn’t inspire me – not much will happen. I’ve always said this from time to time,  but surround yourself with likeminded people. Decorate your apartment or bedroom to be just how you want it or go outside and go to a place that you love to be in. Your mind works a lot better when it doesn’t have any distractions and you can fully concentrate on the task at hand.

3-Go Away

Sometimes we need to let situations be and come back to them with a fresh pair of eyes. Turn off your phone, close your laptop fora while, take a walk, go on a road trip. Escape what you’re stuck on and whilst your away the idea might creep slowly into your mind. Whenever you’re stuck in a rut, if you’re focusing or overthinking something that just isn’t there, like a blog post for example – just don’t think about it. It will come to you eventually I promise.

4-Upgrade yourself

Improve yourself, even if its researching a topic, learning something new, getting a new haircut, getting a tan, going to a restaurant you’ve never been to before  just do anything that makes you feel better or better said like a more upgraded version of yourself. I feel so much more energised once I’ve had a fresh haircut for example. Even silly little things like trying new body lotions  or a new undies boost you up a bit! lol

5-Focus on the Little Things

Impossible things can be made possible, you just have to break them down into little pieces. Take a big task and divide into sections, what should go first? what can wait until the end? start small and keep going, eventually the big task will be complete and it will have flown by. You’ll be surprised at what you can achieve with this simple step.
